Keeping the Promise Alive!
AVID:  The Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program helps students prepare for college at a young age and is focused on students that are academically in the middle. Click here for more info.

Timilty School-Wide Science Fair: Each student at the Timilty completes a science fair project including a research paper, experiments, and science fair presentation board. Students present their work at a School-Wide Science Fair judged by community scientists.  Many of the finalists go on to receive honors at the City-Wide and State Science Fairs.

Timilty Student Council: Student council members are elected from each homeroom.  The council provides the students an opportunity to have a voice at the Timilty and to impact school activities and special events.

Project Promise Ambassadors: Eighth grade student leaders are chosen by teachers to serve in leadership roles throughout the school year.

Physical Best Fitness Program: Every student at the Timilty is required to participate in our Physical Best Fitness Program.  Students are challenged each year to achieve physical education benchmarks.  Each student is tested bi-annually in cardiovascular endurance.  The endurance test is a mandatory bi-annual half-mile run.

Saturday Scholars: A tutoring program for students scoring below proficient on the MCAS, using a combination of online resources and small group tutoring.  Student use StudyIsland and First In Math as well as participate in enrichment activities designed to strengthen math and English Language Arts skills.
Additional Sports: Basketball, squash, table tennis, cross-country, and track and field.

Jump Rope for Heart: An annual event to raise funds for the American Heart Association. Click here for more info.

Can Drive: An annual event where Timilty students donate canned good to area communities in need.

Promising Pals Program:  The Promising Pals Program began in 1986, and provides and opportunity for the students at Timilty to meet positive role models. This program bridges generations by matching school children with an adult pal with whom they will correspond from January to May. Promising Pals also enhances literacy and writing skills as students and their adult pals read the same book and correspond with each other through letters or email. Instrumental Music: Students are eligible to participate in Instrumental music lessons and the Boston City-Wide String Orchestra on Saturday mornings.

Boston Teacher Residency: A master’s program in education that recruits talented, committed individuals of all ages and gives them the tools they need to make an immediate impact in the classrooms of the Boston Public Schools. Residents teach alongside a certified teacher for an entire academic year in conjunction with taking education classes for a teaching license. Click here for more info.

Technology Goes Home @ School: Students and their families receive free technology training at the school after regular hours, Families have the option of buying a computer at a reduced rate. Click here for more info.
